Helping Others

Posted on January 15 2016

Well that didn’t last long did it? It only seems like yesterday when everyone was setting off for their Christmas holidays and now we find ourselves back to school with 2016 already two weeks old! Having caught up with many of the children in school, it seems all of them had a great time creating lasting memories with friends and family over the festive period.

However, a memory of mine will be the devastating images of floodwaters around many areas of the country and viewing communities ruined by the horrid weather. There is never a good time for a flood, but at Christmas the disruption must have been far more extensive. It was lovely to see so many charities and communities coming together to help out in this situation and this got me thinking about the many charities we support at Forest Park.

Helping people in need or those less fortunate than ourselves is an important life skill. At Forest Park, we teach the children to be kind and caring and to look out for others. Throughout the year, we support many good causes and select a charity each half term to focus our efforts on. Last term, we helped raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Francis House. We also donated items of clothing to the local church in December which were then handed out to the homeless in Manchester.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of the children and families at Forest Park for their kind donations. All of your efforts are greatly appreciated and the children at our school are growing up learning the importance of charity and community and that there actions can make a difference in the world.
