This week, we take an insight into Ashley and Nathaniel’s first experiences of secondary school.

Ashley

What was your role of responsibility at Forest Park Prep?

Sports Captain and Prefect

Where do you currently go to school?

Knutsford Multi Academy Trust, Year 7

Were you a member of any sports team? Did you take part in any musical activities?

I was the captain of the Rounders team, which I am very proud of. I played the saxophone.

What skills have you transferred from Forest Park Prep to your secondary school?

I have continued to believe in myself and to persevere with my ‘have a go’ attitude.

What was your overriding memory of Forest Park Prep?

That everything was perfect!

What was your transition like from primary to secondary school? What was it like making new friendships?

The transition was hard at first, but everyone was really helpful. Yes, I made lots of friends quite easily.

Do you enjoy your new school? What are your favourite subjects at school?

YES! All of it! And all the subjects are my favourite.

What was it like returning to Forest Park Prep? What was your favourite memory or experience whilst at Forest Park Prep?

It was a really lovely experience, My favourite memories are, when I brought in my pet rats for the Year 6 assembly and all of the teachers.

What differences are there between attending Forest Park Prep and your current school?

Having a good attendance and being on time is very important, I get quite worried about this, as there are various consequences if you have poor attendance.

Is there any advice you can share that will help the Year 6 children, when moving on to their new secondary schools?

Don’t worry because it ends up great in the end, especially if you find the right school for you.

Prefect and House Captain for Tatton

Where do you currently go to school?

Sale Grammar School, Year 7

Were you a member of any sports team?

I was a keen member of the football team.

What skills have you transferred from Forest Park Prep to your secondary school?

The transition from Forest Park to Sale was scary, but my Mathematics and social skills have been very useful and helped me at the beginning to settle in.

What was your overriding memory of Forest Park Prep?

I remember our classroom, the way it was organised and the fun things we learnt about.

Do you enjoy your new school?

I enjoy the break times and lunches!

What are your favourite subjects at school? Have you carried on with any sports?

My favourites include P.E. and Maths. I have carried on playing football.

What differences are there between attending Forest Park Prep and your current school?

It was nice returning to Forest Park. At Sale Grammar, we have shorter break times and the work is much harder!

Is there any advice you can share that will help the Year 6 children, when moving on to their new secondary schools?

Be confident!
