This week, we talk to Jasmine and Prithvi’s about their first experiences of grammar school and their thoughts and feelings about their return to Forest Park Prep.

Jasmine

What was your role of responsibility at Forest Park Prep?

I was Deputy Head Girl and Tatton House Captain.

Where do you currently go to school?

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls (AGGS), Year 7.

Were you a member of any sports team?

I loved taking part and being a member of the rounders, water polo, athletics and cross country teams.

Did you take part in any musical activities?

Not really, but I’m now very interested in taking up the piano, they also teach this at AGGS.

What skills have you transferred from Forest Park Prep to your secondary school?

Speaking in public.

What was your overriding memory of Forest Park Prep?

All the residential experiences and Worms! (Sounds fun, would you like to expand on that?) Well, it’s a long story, maybe next time!

What was your transition like from primary to secondary school? What was it like making new friendships?

It was very easy for me and I felt very prepared for the transition.  I made ‘loads’ of new friends, again it was easy to make friends.  My top tip is just be yourself.

Do you enjoy your new school? What are your favourite subjects at school?

I love it!  I love the class atmosphere and inspirational people.  My favourite subjects include maths and Spanish as I have inspirational teachers!

What was it like returning to Forest Park Prep? What was your favourite memory or experience whilst at Forest Park Prep?

Brilliant! I loved seeing ex-pupils and teachers. They are friends for life!  My favourite experience was going to AirKix indoor skydiving!

What differences are there between attending Forest Park Prep and your current school?

The size! I was well prepared for everything else, but AGGS is so big in comparison.

Is there any advice you can share that will help the Year 6 children, when moving on to their new secondary schools?

Yes, be yourself and don’t get lost!

Prithvi
