This week, we take an insight into Devasena and George’s first experiences of secondary school.

Devasena

What was your role of responsibility at Forest Park Prep?

Student Council and I was in Tatton house

Where do you currently go to school?

Manchester High School for Girls, Year 7

Did you take part in any musical activities?

I played the piano, which I am very proud of.

What skills have you transferred from Forest Park Prep to your secondary school?

Public speaking - having the confidence to speak in front of large groups of people.

What was your overriding memory of Forest Park Prep?

Having fun with my friends.

What was your transition like from primary to secondary school? What was it like making new friendships?

It was an amazing experience and I have made lots of friends.

Do you enjoy your new school? What are your favourite subjects at school?

I enjoy it; my favourites part is making friends and science lessons.

What was it like returning to Forest Park Prep? What was your favourite memory or experience whilst at Forest Park Prep?

It was very heart-warming and my favourite experience was receiving awards from my teachers.

What differences are there between attending Forest Park Prep and your current school?

There are a lot more teachers and more books to carry around!

Is there any advice you can share that will help the Year 6 children, when moving on to their new secondary schools?

Just be confident!

What was your role of responsibility at Forest Park Prep? Which house were you a part of?

Sports Captain and I was in Dunham House

Where do you currently go to school?

Altrincham College of Arts (ACA), Year 7

Were you a member of any sports team?

I was a member of the swimming, rugby and athletics teams.

What skills have you transferred from Forest Park Prep to your secondary school?

I have continued to play rugby at ACA.

What was your overriding memory of Forest Park Prep?

The ISA Cross Country Competition where I can 13th overall; it was a big achievement with so many other competitors!

Do you enjoy your new school? Have you made friends?

I really like the geography lessons. I have made lots of new friends, everyone has been great!

What are your favourite subjects at school? Have you carried on with any sports?

My favourites include P.E. and geography. I have carried on with rugby and athletics.

What differences are there between attending Forest Park Prep and your current school?

ACA is so much bigger than Forest Park Prep!

Is there any advice you can share that will help the Year 6 children, when moving on to their new secondary schools?

To quickly remember where everything is, especially the rooms where you have lessons so you are not late.
