History Enrichment Day

Posted on February 12 2016

At Forest Park, we enjoy finding out lots of amazing facts and discovering about history from around the world. For our History Enrichment Day, we decided it would be interesting to learn more about famous local people from the past.

We were very fortunate to receive a visit from Mr Alan Morrison, the chairman of Ashton and Sale History Society, who gave all the children a talk about the history of our local area.

The children and teachers were fascinated to hear about the changes over the years and how Ashton and Sale have evolved. We were able to look at pictures and recognise some familiar landmarks such as St. Martin’s Church and School Road.

The children continued this theme with planned activities in their year groups which ranged from the likes of L.S. Lowry, George Mottershead and Emmiline Pankhurst. The Pre-Prep enjoyed looking at old teddies and comparing them to new teddies.

It was a wonderful day and the children showed great enthusiasm to learn more about the past history of famous folk and places.
