Lego Winners!

Posted on July 17 2017

Teachers across Greater Manchester were recently given the opportunity to win a school trip of a lifetime for their school thanks to a competition with Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester, and it just so happened that Forest Park won!!

Children were asked to draw the school on a design sheet as if it was made out of Lego bricks.  Year 1 and a couple of Year 5 pupils decided to take part. Before we started our designs we went outside and had a good look at the school to see what it looks like.  We then sketched the outline of the building before we moved on to adding our bricks. The entries were then scanned and posted onto Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester’s Facebook page with the hashtag #MyMINILANDSchool along with a short description about what is so special about our school.

On Thursday 13 July Year 1 and 2 went to visit the Discovery Centre in Manchester and helped to build the Lego version of our design. The children started off by having a tour of the factory and helped Professor Brick to make a piece of Lego. Then the children went through Miniland to see where our school is going to be displayed. After, the children went into the workshop and met Alex, the Master Builder, to create their own Lego figures and a playground scene to add to our Lego school. After lunch the children were free to explore the rest of the centre, we went on rides, built our own cars, made earthquake safe houses and battled each other in the soft play zone. We really did have a fantastic day, the children loved every minute of it and they truly did deserve such a wonderful treat.

On the final day of the school year Alex brought the model into school to show everyone and even presented the members of Lego Club with some brand new Lego!

The model will be displayed in Miniland at Lego Discovery Centre Manchester from 18 July onwards so make sure you book your tickets!
