Posted on January 28 2015

Pupils from Forest Park have achieved gold, silver and bronze medals in the Independent Schools Association National Swimming Competition, held at the London Aquatics Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, on Saturday 24 January.

The three children aged nine and ten, were selected to represent the North, following qualification through the North Regional Finals.

Cheered on by proud parents, friends and families, the young swimmers took to the Olympic pool in front of 3,000 spectators.

Against fierce competition from independent schools from across the country, the team were awarded three medals:

Swimming forms a key part of the broad Sports curriculum at Forest Park, with pupils benefiting from weekly lessons.

Forest Park’s Sports Coordinator and Manager of the North Schools competitor team, Amanda Booth, said: “Congratulations to all of the children that took part in the competition. It was a truly amazing day and a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to compete at this level and to swim in the Olympic pool. The children were all so calm in front of such a large audience and we are very proud of them all.”
