So long, farewell Year 6

Posted on July 16 2015

The Year 6 class of 2014/15 have given me many memories which I will treasure. Witnessing the children develop their debating skills with the democracy topic and watching them design and make their own hats to be cat-walked in Year 4 is an example of their versatility.

They have been given many opportunities throughout their primary years and a wealth of experiences to enjoy; travelling to Birmingham to be a part of the Skills Show and more recently the Cheshire Show is just to mention a few.  This vast amount of opportunity assisted them to see the world outside the classroom, seeing the importance of life skills.  Forest Park consistently gives a variety of experiences to develop all children, both academically and socially to enable each child to be better prepared for their senior schools than many of their peers. The residential to London and Conwy and being a part of many events such as sports, charities and curriculum days, guided Year 6 to find their interests and allowed them to find their own strengths and weaknesses.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching Year 6 and have seen them all, on many occasions, overcome different challenges.  I have witnessed strong friendships develop and I am proud of all their achievements; vital skills which will be used and developed at their senior schools.

Year 6, you are a part of the Forest Park family and always will be.  You have truly deserved that through hard work and dedication, striving for targets and making leaps in confidence.  You should continue to treasure your memories making sure you use your experiences as you move forward.  Change is always hard, however, do not worry about change, you might lose something good but you may also gain something even better.

Good luck and goodbye Year 6 and always remember ‘By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before.’ – Edwin Elliot.

Best wishes,

Mr Dyson
