KS1 & KS2 Swimming Gala

Posted on May 17 2017

Last week we held our annual Infant Swimming Gala. It was a thrilling event, because parents enjoyed it and cheered on their children. We would like to thank the children for making it delightful for the parents to watch and also, thanks to Sale Leisure Centre for making the event possible.

We would also like to mention all the staff: Misss Robinson, Mrs Williams, Misss Collins, Mrs Pickford and Miss Booth for helping out in the Swimming Gala.

The front crawl race was quite fantastic. It was a pleasure to see that all the Year 1 children gave it their all, especially as it was their first time.

The backstroke was a tummy turner!  Everyone got more enthusiastic and confident in their ability as the race went on, with children striding down poolside declaring that they are going to win it. They were showing what they had learnt during all their swimming lessons, and what they could do.

The obstacle race was the hardest of all the races, using lots of different types of equipment to get to other side of the pool.

The relay race was pretty spectacular with two people at each side for each house (Dunham, Tatton and Moreton) racing across the pool to the sound of lots of wonderful cheering.

The teamwork displayed by the Year 1 and 2 children was awesome.  We could not have asked for more!

At the end the results were in…in third place was Dunham, second place was Moreton, meaning the winners were Tatton!

After a fantastic KS1 Swimming Gala there were high expectations for the KS2 Gala.

The afternoon went extremely quickly as all the swimmers were so speedy, it was a thrill to see the children enjoying themselves and cheering on their house.

The front crawl race went very smoothly, as all the children were showing off their wonderful skills learnt in swimming lessons.

The back stroke race was very splashy, as all the children were kicking their legs so hard.  It was definitely the quickest race of the afternoon!

The breast stroke race was very snappy, with all the whippy kicking.  Everybody gave it their best shot.

The obstacle race was definitely the hardest race of the afternoon.  Pushing off the wall, going through the hoop under the water then kicking with a float to the flags and finally swimming with a ball to the finish line.  What a race!

The final race was the relay race, which went really quickly.  There was a last minute surge from Dunham but could not quite catch Moreton.

We would like to thank all the teachers that helped out and all the children for participating in such a wonderful event.
