Year 1 & 4 Trip to Blue Planet Aquarium

Year 1 and Year 4 recently had a whale of a time at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Chester!

The children stroked a star fish, examined a shark’s tooth and were blasted with water by a very mischievous spotted dogfish. The staff at Blue Planet were on hand to education and inform the children about the weird and wonderful creatures at the aquarium.  We were particularly surprised to learn in our workshops that an octopus has nine brains. Yes, nine! The children were very excited to communicate with underwater divers during the ‘aqua theatre’ show, and enjoyed the journey through the shark tunnel so much that they insisted on going through it twice! A special mention must be made to the Forest Park grit the children displayed in the ‘venom’ area, where they faced their fears to observe vipers, scorpions and tarantulas!

The Year 1 and 4 children returned to Forest Park armed with lots of knowledge about habitats, adaptations and animal classification, plus a huge dose of enthusiasm about their learning. #welovelearning indeed!

We would like to say very well done to all of the children for their superb behaviour and the polite, perceptive questions that they asked in the workshops. It was lovely to see both age groups so engaged by the shared theme of their trip.
