Year 5 and Pre-Prep Buddies

Posted on January 15 2016

The Year 5 and Pre Prep buddies met up for a delightful wintry activity. They created snow scenes that depicted birds flying through a beech forest. The Year 5 children look forward to meeting up with their buddies, either in timetabled events like this or whilst on duty or a brief glance and wave at assembly time.

At Forest Park, we feel the concepts and values underpinning the buddy system complement our established well-being culture in school. The children benefit immensely from being or having a role model. They engage in positive shared experiences during the course of the year. Through this, children in their first and last years of primary school buddy up and learn the values: caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and responsibility.

Although the children may not be aware of the philosophy behind the system, they feel the benefits and the smiles we see when they are engaged in an activity together are priceless.
