School Councils

Pupil Leadership

Our pupil leaders are led by our Head Boy and Head Girl, who are in turn supported by two Deputy Head pupils. Pupils selected for these roles, have great potential as leaders, have very good organisational and communication skills and are fully committed to school life, but most of all they stand out as role models to the other pupils throughout the school. The children have various ways in which they can lead school life through the School Council, Anti-Bullying Council and Eco-Council.

Student Council

The Forest Park Preparatory School Council is made up of 12 pupils from Years 1-6 who are elected by their peers. The School Council gets involved in many aspects of the school in order to help make the school and even better place and our senior pupils take great pride in the responsibilities they are provided with.

Any child can become part of the School Council; they are nominated following class presentations, which are held at the start of the year. The school operates a very thorough selection process for pupil leadership roles which involves the whole school community. All pupils will consider the qualities and responsibilities of each role prior to the School Council gathering views from each class.

Anti-Bullying Council (ABC)

Children are selected in a similar way to the school council and meet every 4 weeks. The aim of the ABC is to ensure that every child has a happy school life. The children promote their work through feeding back to our classes and during assemblies.

Eco Council

Our Eco Council consists of representatives from every class and together we think about how we may look after the environment, our school and its grounds. The children raise awareness through assemblies and form time sessions.

Prefects

Our prefects, value the importance of working as a team. They are very active within their roles and proud of the prestigious positions they have. Prefects have both school and community responsibilities. Within the school, they support our younger pupils by taking on Play Leader roles and all EYFS pupils have a ‘buddy’. School prefects support behaviour standards around the school and actively reinforce positive values and conduct. School prefects are expected to attend and support every community event throughout the school year. Many prefects will also run playtime and lunchtime clubs to the benefit of all pupils at the school.
