It’s Good to be Back!

Posted on September 18 2020

So, 2020 is supposedly the year to forget, the year to put behind us. A period of time we need to try to wipe clean from the slate. Well, of course, the year has seen an unprecedented pandemic affect all of our lives, but we need to be more proactive and take back 2020 not forget it. As much as Covid-19 has affected us all, there are positives to take and improvements to keep.

Sometimes, when things appear to be falling apart, they are actually falling into place.

That is exactly the philosophy we hold at Forest Park, one where we continue to strive forward. Setbacks only make us stronger and as the first couple of weeks of the new academic year at Forest Park pass us by, we have seen everyone has settled extremely well into their new classes and routines.  It’s been great to be back and together again as a family, all the children have settled back into school life brilliantly.

I have been extremely impressed with the start to the new term and, despite the strange world around us right now, there is a ‘feel good’ factor around the school at the moment – we are certainly taking 2020 back and owning it!

Pre-Prep and Reception have settled wonderfully in to the school and are enjoying their new trikes and bikes. All our new starters have jumped straight into life at the school. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are utilising their new TV screens and Chromecast links, which bring so much more excitement and interactivity into the classroom. Years 1 and 2 have thrown themselves into their specialist Spanish and Music lessons this term, impressing both Mrs Wainwright and Mrs Kilpatrick.

Year 6 are nearing the end of their entrance examinations for the local grammar schools. We are very proud of all the children, they were calm and focused throughout their preparations this year and a final few weeks of hard work will make all the difference. I am sure Year 6 will all achieve ‘their best’, which is all we can ask of them.

The whole school is full of smiles, laughter and learning now and the children are keen to look forward to the many exciting activities still to come.  After an uncertain end to last year, and not a clear picture of what lies ahead, we at Forest Park are determined we will make the most of 2020-21 and I look forward to witnessing more wonderful experiences on offer at Forest Park for all of our pupils.

In the words of Nina Simone “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, for me and I’m feeling good.”
