Mrs Moores Celebrates 20 Years of Service

Mrs Moores, our Year 3 teacher, recently celebrated 20 years of service at Forest Park.  We wanted to mark the occasion so we asked Georgia and Alice from Year 6 to interview her.

Have you enjoyed your 20 years teaching at Forest Park?

I can’t believe how fast 20 years have passed! I have enjoyed the last 20 years because of all the wonderful children I have taught, all the lovely, supportive parents, and the great team of people I work with every day.

What has been your fondest memory of your time at Forest Park?

There are too many to mention but one of the loveliest things about being a teacher is when children come as babies and you get to watch them grow up into Year 6.

How much do you think Forest Park has changed during your time here?

I think in many ways it has changed with new Headteachers who bring in new ideas but the core values of Forest Park remain the same.  That being the family feel of the school that has always been present.

What was the first thing that came into your head when you visited Forest Park the very first time and what made you decide to teach here?

I think it was the amazing building, which was of course formerly a Victorian house. How smart the uniform was and how polite and well mannered the pupils were.  Everyone made me feel very welcome.

Why did you want to become a teacher?

I was originally going to become a nurse but then after gaining the right grades for university, I took up a degree course in Liverpool.  I had done some work experience at my local primary school, Navigation Road, and really loved being in the classroom with the children.

How many classes/children have you taught at Forest Park over the years?

I originally started teaching at Forest Park in Year 1, where I happily taught for 13 years.  Then I moved to Year 3 where I currently teach.  My reckoning is that I have taught about 400 children over 20 years!

What are your favourite subjects to teach?

I love finding out about the past and in my own spare time I love to visit places of historical interest both in the UK and abroad, so can you guess my favourite subject?

How many more years are you planning to stay at Forest Park?

Until I win the lottery!

Here’s to another 20 years, Mrs Moores!
