A Night at the Movies

Posted on March 20 2017

Year 5 and 6 have been learning about the relationship between music and movies in their music lessons, culminating in a performance to parents last week.

The ‘Forest Park Presents A Night at the Movies’ concert began with kazoos and drums performing the iconic theme from 20th Century Fox. Each class then followed with a performance of a piece of music from a favourite film; Year 5 put their aural skills to the test with a performance of ‘He’s a Pirate’ (Pirates of the Caribbean) on Boomwhackers and Year 6 showed us their ensemble skills with ‘I’m a Believer’ (Shrek).

The children then showcased their music compositions for silent films: ‘Sweet Dreams’ (year 5) and ‘The Great Sticky Scenario’ (year 6). Both performances had it all - comedy, sad moments and chase scenes, all with music to create the right atmosphere. Parents were then truly dazzled with the finale, ‘Disney Dazzle’ with songs from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

It was a fantastic evening of entertainment!

Thank you to all the children for their wonderful performances, and to the parents for coming along to support.
