Be a Superhero Day

Posted on June 30 2015

The Superheroes at Forest Park Preparatory School showed off their amazing talents and skills when helping to raise funds for ‘Unicef’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

The day began with an assembly where all the superheroes gathered together to hear about the devastating effect the earthquake has had on the country, Nepal.  The children listened to what was said, showing care and concern when they saw the destruction and chaos that this earthquake has caused for the children and people of Nepal.

To continue to raise the children’s awareness, each year group had the challenge of helping to rebuild Nepal using a variety of different construction materials. In Kindergarten and Reception, they were very keen to work together as a team and build a new hospital and school using the large wooden blocks.

Year 1 & 2 children used their fantastic skills with Lego producing some amazing schools.

Year 3 & 4 used paper straws to construct some beautiful colourful houses and in Year 5 & 6 they used newspapers to assemble bridges which were able to carry a weight.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this day. Together, we raised over £144 which will provide clean drinking water and food for over 10 different families in Nepal.

We really do appreciate your continuous support and the generosity that you have shown throughout this academic year.
