Bricktastic!

To celebrate the end of a successful year in Reception the class enjoyed a trip to Legoland Discovery Centre, the indoor Lego playground with rides, Lego building opportunities a 4D cinema and a miniature Lego Forest Park School!

I believe this experience was an appropriate ending to the Early Years Foundation Stage as the importance of play underpins the EYFS. Through play, children develop their language skills, emotions, creativity, social and intellectual skills.  They practise new ideas and skills, they take risks, show imagination and solve problems on their own or with others. However, whist the class watched the Lego machine churning out of the ‘newly’ made plastic pieces of Lego. I also saw the irony as the class began to rumble with objection declaring that ‘plastic is bad!’
