Early Years’ Chinese New Year

Posted on February 12 2016

Early Years have been thoroughly enjoying Chinese New Year.   This year is the Year of the Monkey.

They have experienced a range of activities including: making dragons, exploring rice within their Small World play and having a go at using chopsticks.

Pre Prep had a lovely visit from Ethan's mummy who taught the children all about how her family celebrates Chinese New Year and what is special about items seen at this time of year.  Reception had a visit from Ellie in Year 1 who also gave a talk about her collection of Chinese clothes and objects and then challenged the children to have a dragon dance.

The children were very interested in learning about the zodiac animals and how each year got its name.  We are looking forward to next year's Year of the Rooster!
