Exciting Ancient Egyptian Workshop in Year 4

On Monday, Year 4 took part in an Ancient Egyptian workshop. The children carried out a number of different and exciting activities that developed their understanding of the topic. The day was extremely enjoyable and offered the children lots of opportunities to explore their self-made questions and inquires, whilst consolidating their new and ever-developing knowledge.

During the morning, the fantastic team leader from Time Travels shared his personal experiences and photographs with the children. This opportunity truly captured the children’s interest and curiosity; sparking lots of discussions and questions. We may have a few future historians on our hands!

After learning and copying hieroglyphs, the children used their knowledge to participate in games and competitions to try and crack the code! Their competitive side definitely started to show on the quest to win some papyrus paper.

The children were given the chance to dress up in Ancient Egyptian style clothing and beauty products. Thank you to our two willing volunteers who looked absolutely fantastic! The children found this very funny and they had a great time chuckling at the struggle of removing the makeup!

During the afternoon, there were lots of arts and crafts activities for the children to do. After exploring some of the historical monuments, figures and much more, the children had the chance to design and make their own by either painting, modelling or pressing their resources. Each child created their own individual piece of work which are very beautiful. They were very grateful for the experience day and produced some fantastic work that they should be very proud of!
