Year 6 met up with their buddies in Reception and enjoyed some bonding time making Halloween cakes. With some super teamwork, lots of jellied snakes and a metric tonne of icing sugar, we had plenty of Great British Bake Off contenders... and judging by the smiles, the cakes tasted just as good as they looked!
It was lovely for both classes to reconnect with each other in their new year groups. The older children adore their buddies and take great pleasure in catering to their every whim ('Let's play in the sandpit... Now read a story with me... Can you chase me? Faster!... Will you play dress up with me? Or shall we build a house?). They were certainly kept busy, and wouldn't have it any other way!
The buddy relationship begins when the children are in Year 5 and Pre-Prep, and continues into Year 6 and Reception. The magic doesn't wear off after a year together; they have such a lovely bond and it's wonderful to see this grow, year-on-year. Both classes are looking forward to spending more time together this year.
