On Friday 27th February, children from Forest Park Preparatory School joined pupils from two other schools in the Bellevue Education group, to take part in an Inter School Speech Competition.

Held at Forest Preparatory School, the competition provided an opportunity for pupils who had already won speech competitions at each of their schools, to perform against other pupils in four categories - Early Years, Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4, Years 5 & 6.

Each performed their pieces to an extremely high standard and the adjudicator, ex-Headteacher Phil Millard, had a difficult job deciding on a winner for each category.

The winners were:

Headteacher, Mrs Horrocks, said: “We were delighted to take part in the first Bellevue (North) Schools Speech Competition. The champions from each school engaged a receptive audience with their varied topics and styles of presentation and feedback was given to all the participants. We were very proud of all our entrants. Congratulations to Zoe Tower for winning the lower Key Stage 2 category for her speech on suffragettes.”

Competitions such as this, help to develop pupils’ self-confidence and public speaking skills.
