#HelloYellow for Mental Health Day

On Friday 9th October, we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Day supporting one of the leading children’s mental health charities, Young Minds. We combined one of our 2020/2021 school targets of wellbeing with charity fundraising to take part in #HelloYellow to raise money for a very worthy cause and have so far raised a total of £359! Thank you for your ongoing support and generosity! If you have not yet donated but wish to do so, please click here to visit our Just Giving page.

A huge thank you from all of the staff at Forest Park to Dr Kazmi for volunteering her time to offer her expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr Kazmi delivered a number of presentations throughout the day to each bubble. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and their time spent with her!  Dr Kazmi said 'I really encourage you to talk to your child about what they learnt at school so we can together embed and reinforce the message about how important mental health and wellbeing is to ensure a healthy future for our children. A mentally healthy child at home is a mentally healthy child at school/in society and vice versa'.

Throughout the day, the children developed their understanding of mental health, its importance and how to look after it. They engaged with videos, games and conversations with one another to put their new knowledge into practice. They engaged really well with all of the activities and learnt a lot from them!
