Here’s Looking at You

Stockport Grammar holds a prestigious Art competition each year and Forest Park always takes part.

This year, fortuitously, the theme was self-portraiture. Year 5 had recently completed some self-portraits during their art lessons. Having studied different styles and artists in this area, the children embarked on creating their own traditional and non-traditional pieces. The ones pictured here are half photo, half drawing, where the children worked on facial composition and measurement. These were enhanced with the 'personality portrait' thought bubble.

On the evening of the competition the children had the opportunity to take part in a printing activity run by Stockport Grammar children and their Head of Art. They were then able to explore the gallery and observe other children’s art work from a number of schools across Trafford.  They thoroughly enjoyed seeing their own and other children's work on display and came away proud and clutching a fantastic goodie bag full of arty materials.

Well done to all involved and thank you to Miss Robinson, our Art Coordinator, for organising another enriching trip!
