Pre-Prep and Year 5 Go On A Safari Adventure at Knowsley

Last week Pre-Prep and their Year 5 buddies enjoyed a trip to Knowsley Safari Park.

When we arrived at the park we were taken on a five-mile safari where we met lots of animals, including some very cheeky baboons and a magnificent pride of lions.

Our tour guide was excellent, enabling the children to learn about each animal we encountered.  We learned about their habitats and what their day to day life at the park is like.  The Year 5 children were also fantastic, helpfully pointing out animals they saw and passing on their knowledge and sharing some interesting facts.

Our discovery workshop was well received by the children; they observed and took part in stories about how African animals have adapted to living in such a different environment. The children were also given the chance to explore a range of artefacts such as skulls, feathers and eggs and were then introduced to lots of minibeasts.

We enjoyed our picnic in the sea lion shelter where Roger and Arthur put on a great show and the trip ended with the children dressing up as safari rangers to meet the meerkats and giraffes.

It was a fantastically fun and informative day for all the children and staff.  Thank you to everyone at Knowsley for looking after us so well.
