Local pupils perform over 750 good deeds to support Francis House Hospice

Posted on December 19 2014

Pupils at Forest Park Preparatory School in Sale completed more than 750 good deeds, to raise over £300 for their chosen charity, Francis House Hospice.

Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 were each given a tube of Smarties and challenged to refill the empty tube with 20 pence pieces which they earned in return for good deeds or acts of kindness.

Money raised from the challenge will help Francis House, a local hospice providing care for children and young adults with life threatening conditions. The charity also provides support and friendship for the whole family.

A prize for the most unique deed was awarded to Reception pupil, Ellie Jim.

Ellie, aged four, said: “Raising money made me happy and I even saved a worm!”

Headteacher, Karen Horrocks, said: “The children have thoroughly enjoyed raising money for Francis House. I am amazed at the total number of good deeds, which reflects the generosity of our school community”

Money is still being collected from the Good Deed challenge and pupils and staff are already planning further fundraising activities such as an Afternoon Tea for parents, to raise additional funds for Francis House.
