Physical Education at Forest Park

We absolutely love teaching PE at Forest Park. The children have been working very hard throughout the autumn and spring terms.

The younger years have been developing their fine motor skills, functional movement skills and decision-making skills with movement and sport. We have explored how our body moves and learnt new ways to travel. We have also been learning balance and routines in a 3-week gymnastics programme.

The older age groups have so far been developing their game skills in a wide range of activities including football, rugby, netball, dodgeball, handball, athletics and rounders.  There will also be a bigger focus on fielding and striking games this term. Not only do we learn new sports but we also spend a lot of time working on defending and attacking principles too!

We have also been fitness testing the children term by term, to educate them on the importance of keeping fit and healthy in their daily life, not just in a sport.

Coming up we have some netball friendlies, dodgeball tournaments and athletics events so we hope to see the children continuing to work hard in lessons and the extra-curricular clubs.

Don’t forget our netball club is every Friday morning, boys and girls from Year 4-6 are welcome!
