Sporting Success for Forest Park

It has been six years since Forest Park School had a netball team but with guidance from our new PE teacher, we are back for 2020! Girls from Year 5 and 6 entered their first tournament against six schools in the Chadwick Cup. They thoroughly enjoyed the debut performances and are looking forward to three coaching friendlies with local schools next half term. We will be looking for parent cheerleaders, as we know this makes such a difference to the children. We will confirm the dates soon.

Cross Country

The junior children took part in the ISA Cross Country Championships at Scarisbrick Hall, which is the regional qualifier for the national finals.  Luckily, the weather was on our side this year but the course was still very challenging thanks to the mud underfoot.  Forest Park entered thirty-six children in four different events. The top ten children in each category would qualify to represent the north at the finals.  A special mention to Pippa, Year 3, for coming 14th and just missing out on a qualifying place but watch this space as she was competing against mainly Year 4 competitors.

Congratulations to Aran, Year 4 and Leo, Year 4, for coming 1st and 4th respectively out of 150 runners.  A brilliant achievement. We look forward to cheering them on at the finals in March.  Well done to all the children who took part and apologies to the parents for any missing trainers and a lot of dirty washing!

A selection of children from the junior year groups, took part in the Forest Swimming Cup last month.  After our first win last year in this cup the pressure was on to retain our title.  It was a very exciting opportunity as the Year 3 children made their debut!  As always, the children showed impeccable behaviour and sportsmanship and we could not be prouder.  As the gala progressed, the butterflies disappeared and we knew our 2020 title was safe but this time by an even bigger margin.  Thank you to all the parents for supporting the children.

Last week eight children from Year 4 and 5 took part in the Trafford Sports Partnership Gala, which was the first round to qualify for the Trafford finals later this month.  We had a team of four girls and four boys who all had to swim an individual event and two team relays.  To qualify for the finals each team had to finish in the top three out of twelve schools.  Thanks to some excellent swimming, the girls placed third and the boys finished champions!  We look forward to the finals and being crowned Trafford champions.
