Sporting Achievements at Forest Park

Over the past couple of weeks, Forest Park children have taken part in the Altrincham District & Sale Harriers Cross Country meets. Thank you to all the children and parents who have turned up on some very wet and cold Saturday mornings.

The children showed the usual ‘I can and I will’ Forest Park spirit and determination.  A special mention to Leo in Year 4 who came 1st in both the Altrincham meets and 13th in the Sale Harriers meet, against boys from Years 4, 5 & 6.  Well done Leo!  We are looking forward to seeing you again at the final Altrincham meet at John Leigh Park on Saturday 16 November 2019.

The Under 11 football team performed extremely well in the Sale & Partington League, especially as we fielded a younger team than the other schools taking part.  This is the first competition that the children have played together as a team.  They forged a strong bond and the teamwork on display was a credit to them.  We now look forward to taking part in further tournaments and watching this team go from strength to strength.

The Under 9 team will be making their Forest Park debut next Friday at Crossford Bridge against Bridgewater in the ISA Knockout Cup.  We are looking forward to seeing this team match their older counterparts’ performance. We wish them the best of luck and keep an eye on Facebook for their results.

On Wednesday children from Year 5 and 6 represented Forest Park at the Trafford Handball Competition.  This is the second time we have taken part in this event and we have already seen an improvement on last year’s performance.  This complex game is so fast and furious that Mrs Pawson and her parent helpers were unable to ascertain whether we had won the matches until it had been announced by the referee!  The children soon got used to the shrug of Mrs Pawson’s shoulders and her blank face as they looked to her for the result.  The good news is that the team won all of their group’s matches and were crowned group champions.  They went on to take part in the semi-finals and narrowly lost out by one goal. We look forward to taking part in this event again next year and building on our success.

Upcoming events:

15 November – ISA U9 Knockout Cup

16 November – John Leigh Park Cross Country & ISA North Swimming Gala

18 November – Beech House Swimming Gala

20 November – Year 5 & 6 Trafford Sports Hall Athletics

And we must not forget our Junior children will be enjoying their annual ice skating trip, complete with Christmas jumpers, at the end of this month.
