Sporting Success in Football, Swimming and Dodgeball!

This half term has been very busy when it comes to sport at Forest Park. In the past week, we have had the KS1 & KS2 school swimming galas, Year 1, 3 and 4 and Year 5 & 6 boys and girls’ football tournaments as well as Forest Park’s debut in a dodgeball tournament.

All the football teams took part in the Brabyns’ World Cup Tournament at the Soccerdome. All the Forest Park teams did extremely well.  They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and showed great team spirit.  The Year 1 team were up against strong competition as they had to compete against other teams which included Year 2 children (our Year 2 children were having too much fun on a residential trip to attend!) but they came out fighting and finished runners up!  The Year 3 & 4 team showed their impressive skills, winning all their games and becoming the champions!  The Year 5 & 6 boys’ team played really well and scored some excellent goals, finishing third in their group.  The girls’ team, playing in only their second tournament this year, showed grit and determination against some very strong teams in their group. They won all their games and did not concede any goals, and so were crowned champions!

The Year 5 & 6 dodgeball team were very excited to play in their first ever tournament.  It is a fast and furious game where you have to dodge balls flying from all directions and the children did extremely well to win their group and make the quarterfinals.  This meant that they finished in the top 8 out of 32 schools across Trafford.  We look forward to developing this new sport at Forest Park over the next couple of years.

We have also had our KS1 & KS2 school swimming galas.  It has been wonderful to witness some outstanding individual performances along with great team efforts in the relays.  A special mention has to go to Year 1, who were taking part in their first ever competitive races.  We were so proud to see them all getting in the pool and giving it their best.  Well done to Tatton and Dunham for winning the KS2 and KS1 galas respectively.  Overall the results were tied between Dunham and Tatton.

Once again, thank you very much to all the parents for your continued support.  We now look forward to another busy half term ahead which includes, the ISA Athletics Championships on the first day back, EYFS and KS1 Sports’ Day, KS2 Sports’ Day, ESSA Relay National Finals and Year 5 & 6 Girls & Boys’ Kwick Cricket Tournament.
