Sporting Success!

It's been a busy couple of weeks on the sports front at Forest Park!

Some of the Year 2 children were invited to take part in the MCFC Football Festival against lots of different schools from the Manchester area. The children performed extremely well and were runners up in their group.  It was wonderful to see some brilliant teamwork in what was their debut football event.  We hope all the children and parents enjoyed the event.

Forest Park took part in the annual Bellevue Inter-School Swimming Gala. We have participated in this event for the last five years and have always been narrowly pipped to the post by our sister school, Forest.  The children turned up this year determined to break Forest's winning streak run with true 'I Can and I Will' spirit.  All the Junior children who participated did us proud by achieving their goal and becoming the champions!  A special mention must go to the Year 3 children as it was their first time at this event but they won all their individual events and won both their relays by over a length.  Once again thank you very much to our very supportive parents for attending and cheering the children on, it really does make a difference.

The Under 9 football team took part in the next round of the ISA Knockout Cup.  We were drawn against the current champions, The Grange, so we knew it was going to be a tough game.  Forest Park went 3-0 ahead but unfortunately, The Grange fought back and equalised by half time.  The children had a very positive team talk and went on to win 10-4. This now means they have reached the ISA Under 9 Knockout Cup Finals which is the first time the Under 9 team has achieved this!  A special mention must go to Jesse from Year 4 who scored a whopping nine out of the ten goals, and did not complain when he had to be substituted to give the other team a chance!

Our Year 4 and 5 swimming team attended the annual Trafford Swimming Gala last week at Sale Leisure Centre.   The children were split into boys and girls' teams and each was up against eleven other local schools.  Finishing in the top three of this round of the gala gives teams an opportunity to qualify for the Trafford Finals. With their 'I Can and I Will' attitude, all the children were determined to qualify. Again, the children completed their mission. The girls' team finished third and the boys' team finished second.  We look forward to supporting the children in the Trafford Finals in February.
