Paralympian Inspires Future Sporting Stars

We were extremely lucky to have Sports for Schools come to Forest Park on Tuesday 25 June. Only 1,300 Primary Schools nationwide receive a visit each year: that’s over 350,000 children per year who will forever remember the day a Paralympic athlete dropped into their school!

Michael Churm, a Team GB Paralympic Sprinter, arrived with Beo from Sports for Schools and set up a fitness circuit involving spotty dogs, push-ups, star jumps and mountain climbers.  The children had to complete each exercise for seven minutes; they were encouraged and supported by both Michael and Beo. The school hall was alive with energy, noise, happy faces and a sense of achievement as the children worked together through each station.  Without even realising it they were learning, being active, mentally and physically alert with each exercise!

Sports for Schools aim to inspire children to do more sport, but also raise money for PE equipment in schools. The children had a great day and have so far raised over £600!

We once again thank all the Forest Park families for your continued support. We hope our last fundraising event of the year was memorable and beneficial to all the children involved.
