Sporting Success at Forest Park

The Year 4 & 5 swimming team took part in the Trafford Swimming Finals last week.  With 12 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ teams taking part, the competition was tough.  The level of swimming was to such a high standard as a lot of club swimmers were in the teams.  As ever Forest Park pulled on their "I Can and I Will" attitude and gave the other teams a run for their money.  The boys' team finished fifth and the girls were placed sixth.

On the same day, children from Year 3 & 4 took part in their first ever water polo tournament, run by the ISA.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the event, as did Mr. Tucker who was there to cheer them on!  The team started tentatively, narrowly losing out in their first two games. However, once they realised water polo is a contact sport and a little dunking was allowed they transformed as a team and fought their way to win the next two games.  Well done for coming third in the league.  The children were so proud as you can see in the picture!

Last Friday children from Year 5 & 6 attended the MCFC Independent Schools’ Football Festival.  The team struggled initially against teams from some very large schools.  This, however, did not dampen their spirits and they went on to score some great goals.  It was wonderful to hear such lovely feedback from other schools and coaches about Forest Park’s fantastic team spirit, so well done to all the children who took part.  It’s also worth noting, as its International Women’s Day, that Forest Park were the only team to take girls along to the festival!

Finally, to finish our sporting roundup, we ended the week with the last cross country meet of the season, at Sale Harriers.  Once again thank you to all the children who took part and to the parents who came along to support them.  We look forward to seeing some more progress next season.
