ICT: Skills for Life

Here at Forest Park Preparatory School, we like to do things a little bit differently and our computing curriculum is not an exception. Technology is changing the lives of everyone globally, with a recent surge in the need to up skill and build confidence using new ways to connect and work. Computing has a high priority in our broad and balanced curriculum and it is certainly too important to be sidelined! Computing skills and computational thinking are a major factor in enabling children to become resilient, creative and responsible digital citizens, understanding their role and responsibilities in this ever developing digital landscape.

Computer science is a blend of all the STEM subjects. It involves science, technology, engineering, and math. Our goal is to inspire and equip the next generation to participate and create in the future of this rapidly changing world.

With weekly hour long sessions for even our youngest students the progress in just a few weeks has been immense! The children in Pre-Prep, have learnt to independently log themselves on and access their own set tasks and complete them successfully, to the pupils in Year 6 coding complex mini games and stories.

Inspiration, through pupil ownership, has had a positive effect on the children’s computational thinking
