The Gamble Paid Off!

Posted on July 13 2016

Back stage at The Garrick Playhouse, 29-30 June 2016 was the place to be.  The nervous excitement was palpable.  The scenery was drying. The microphones taped in place.  The costumes were straightened and trilbies tilted and the last vestiges of hope were being pinned to Forest Park staff, in hope that they would be able to perform in their roles with as much confidence as every child involved in the school production: Guys and Dolls!

A production full of talent and bursting at the seams with competent performers who were waiting in the wings to entertain family, friends, past pupils and staff.  And entertain them they did!   All the hard work paid off and the show was a roaring success.   The curtain opened and the overture began, the stage was alight with gangsters, hotbox girls, 40’s couture and talent in its bucket load.  Year 3 whizzed us to Havana to experience some Cuban heat with their wonderful dance routine and song, Year 4 oozed bad guy image during their scenes as New York gangsters, Year 5 treated us to all kinds of choreography and delightful singing.  Special mention needs to go to Year 6, who should be very proud of the piece of theatre they created.  Acting, singing and dancing, a triple threat as it is known in the theatre world, each child proved their worth on that stage, treading the boards with assurance and well-moulded characterisation!

A fitting crescendo to the academic Year and a well-deserved rapturous applause was enjoyed by all.  Well done!
