Trafford Swimming Gala

Posted on January 20 2017

As part of our Trafford Games membership, we were invited to take part in a Year 4 and 5 swimming gala.  We were able to enter a team of four girls and four boys, where each child had to swim one individual event and two relay events.  Twelve schools from Trafford took part in our heat on Friday.  The top three boys’ teams and top three girls’ teams would qualify to reach the Trafford Finals in March.  The children swam extremely well.   Mr Tucker was very proud of their efforts and team spirit.  As the smallest school taking part, we hoped to finish in the top half of the leader board and anything near the top would be a huge achievement.  It was a very tense time poolside for both teachers and children as the results were announced in reverse order, and it felt like hours!  As the results neared the top half, the tension was building.   We are very excited and proud to announce that the girls finished second out of twelve teams and the boys finished third!  Therefore, both our teams qualified for the finals!  Many thanks once again for the tremendous support of our parents.  The Trafford Finals are on Friday, 4 March at Sale Leisure Centre and we will keep you informed of further details nearer the time.

We would like to wish Megan (Y6), Ben (Y5) and Vincent (Y4) the best of luck representing the North of England and Forest Park at the ISA National Swimming Finals this Saturday. Please keep a close eye on Facebook for the results.
