Pupils Prepare for Successful Transitions

The thought of starting primary school or moving to a new class can be unnerving for any pupil, which is why it's so important to make the process run as smoothly as possible. Here at Forest Park, we have a Transition Morning for new pupils, followed by a Moving Up afternoon for current pupils.

On Thursday we welcomed our new pupils to the Forest Park family at our Transition Morning and all the current pupils enjoyed the Moving Up afternoon.

The new Pre-Prep children arrived in the morning in their new classroom and were introduced to Mrs Richardson, Mrs Smith and Ms Derbyshire.  The children were given a tour of the different areas of the classroom and outdoor provision, and were very impressed at all the toys and things to do!  They sang lots of teddy bears songs and had a delicious teddy bears' picnic.

Our current Pre-Prep pupils visited their new Reception classroom with Mrs Lynn, who read The Owl Babies to them.  In the afternoon all our current pupils spent time in their new classroom getting to know their new teacher and were later joined by parents for an informal meet the teacher session.

Here are some useful tips for our new families to prepare your child for starting school. We can't wait to welcome all our children to their new classes in September!
