We Love Literacy!

What a sensational week we’ve had at Forest Park! The children have immersed themselves in many aspects of the English curriculum, with World Book Day and the finals of our Poetry Recital and House Handwriting Competition!

World Book Day saw our Bedtime Story theme begin with a reverse bang as Mr. Tucker read a ‘morningtime’ story to the whole school – the hilarious ‘Book with No Pictures,’ which left us all in fits of giggles. We followed this up with library scavenger hunts; whole-class quizzes; a BBC Live lesson; reading by finger light in a darkened room; puppet-spoon crafts; Book World Cups; and buddy reads in which we roleplayed and performed stories to children in another year group. We are officially bananas about books!

On Friday, we practised our speaking and listening skills with a poetry recital featuring the competition finalists (voted for by their peers in the class-round of the competition). The whole school listened in rapt silence as our brave and confident performers, from pre-prep all the way up to Year 6, entertained us with their wonderfully expressive poem recitals.  The winning house was Moreton.

Last but not least, we celebrated our beautiful handwriting with Moreton and Dunham tying for our annual handwriting competition!

Very well done to our super Forest Parkers for their fantastic contributions and engagement in all of this week’s activities!
