Year 1 & 2 Visit Ness Gardens

Ness Botanic Garden is a magical environment for exploration. With 64 acres of grounds the children discovered the most surprising things, including giant redwood trees, prehistoric horsetails, plants from all around the world, flowers of all colours, shapes and sizes within a myriad of habitats.

Year 1 and 2 had a wonderful time exploring the magic of Ness Botanical Garden’s on Friday the 29 July. It was 29 degrees but this did not stop the children from being impeccably behaved and asking some amazing questions. Rose the workshop leader commented on how mature and knowledgeable the children were. They explored plants from different countries and closely observed 3 different types of bees. They walked through the forest discovering and collecting a range of natural materials, although we think the children enjoyed the sprinklers the most! The children developed their knowledge about fruit and vegetables in the allotment where they saw beetroots, carrots and gooseberries growing. The children also visited the Aquaponics Garden where they were growing vegetables using fish poo!

After lunch we went on a self-guided tour of the gardens and had lots of fun in the shaded playground. We then found a nice spot under some trees and ate our ice pops; we had one more walk through the sprinklers before heading back to the coach.

We are so proud of all the children for their behaviour, it was extremely hot but they all did so well to remain engaged and enthusiastic all day. Well done everyone!
