Introduction to our Year 2 Student Teacher

Posted on April 20 2016

Hello, my name is Olivia Bridge and I am a PGCE student at Manchester Metropolitan training at Forest Park School. I have the pleasure of working with Year 2 everyday alongside Mrs Carrasco, Mrs Mosley and Mrs Pickford and will be here until the middle of June. We have just started a lovely literacy topic on ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ which is a captivating story and one that the children have thoroughly enjoyed so far. This is a cross curricula topic so we have been looking at nocturnal animals in science and looking at mixing dark colours and creating night scenes in art.

I have been overwhelmed with the welcome I have received at Forest Park. Everyone has been very helpful and supportive throughout my training so far. Originally, I was educated at Brabyns Preparatory School which is now a sister school to Forest Park. I also attended Stockport Grammar School and later undertook an Education Studies degree at Manchester Metropolitan. So far at Forest Park, I have had the opportunity to get to know a number of different classes and will be joining Year 3 and Year 4 on their residential in a few weeks. I am very much looking forward to observing how the children learn outside of school. I have been extremely inspired by all the children and staff at Forest Park and hope to inspire the learners I teach.
