Year 2 RE Trip

On Monday the Year 2 children had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Manchester Jewish Museum. Despite the snow and heavy traffic delaying our arrival, we had a fabulous time taking part in a variety of workshop activities.

The children learnt about the Jewish faith through a talk from one of the senior Rabbis. He discussed the foundation of the Jewish religion with the pupils. Later, the students had a chance to look at and hold objects relating to the faith. This session helped the children gain a better understanding of Judaism and the workings of a synagogue. We were given a tour around the synagogue and explored Jewish history in greater detail.  The students had the opportunity to dress in costume as if getting ready for the ‘Shabbat day’.

Before we left the Synagogue the students were able to buy a little souvenir to remind them of their day out. The children thanked the staff for such an enjoyable and informative visit. It was a highly successful trip and we look forward to planning further educational visits to help the children.
