Year 3 & 4 Trip to Castleton

Posted on May 20 2016

Once again the Year 3’s and Year 4’s residential trip to Castleton was a great success.

We are very proud of all the children; they were exceptionally behaved, well-mannered and represented Forest Park extremely well.

The sun shone both days but the heat did not affect the amount of enthusiasm the children showed during each activity.  They completed a 5 mile walk through the stunning countryside whilst discovering different types of rock and hunting fossils.  They did so well, we thought they deserved a delicious ice cream.  When we got back to Losehill Hall the children didn’t have time to rest before we started our next activity ‘Jumblies Challenge’.  The children worked in teams to hunt down jumbled up letters that would form different words; it was very challenging but the children worked hard. We then solved Roman Runes before the children could settle into their rooms awaiting their evening meal. During the final activity of the day, the children learnt the history of Castleton candles and even got to make their own.

After a good night’s sleep and tasty breakfast, the children were all ready for their Roman battle. They marched, with their shields, to the fortress and fought against the Celts and built giant wooden catapults.

Finally on the way home, the coach stopped at the gift shop so the children could buy souvenirs. We all had a fantastic time.  The weather was perfect and the children were brilliant.  We already can’t wait until next year.
