Years 3 and 4 had a fantastic day in the sunshine last week, when they visited Ness Gardens to learn about plants and sustainability. They were given a guided tour of the sprawling grounds as part of their workshops, and learned about composting, solar panel energy and pollination. Their guide was very impressed by their perceptive questions and superb general knowledge. Both classes particularly enjoyed hunting and identifying a range of different types of bees, and Year 3 were very pleased to have the opportunity to plant some seedlings in the potting shed.
Our exploration of the gardens was a great adventure - doubly so when Mrs Hewitt managed to get her class lost in the wildest parts of the grounds (*wink, wink). Luckily, she had a map and twenty-one brilliant navigators to help steer her back on course! A very well-deserved ice lolly awaited the intrepid explorers when they returned to the main gardens.
Quote of the day, by a Year 4 girl, hopping with excitement: 'I LOVE having adventures. This has been the best trip ever!'
