Year 3 Explore Rocks and Fossils

Year 3 had a wonderful day learning about Rocks and Fossils with Mr North from Timetrips.  The children learnt about the different types of rocks and how they are formed.

The children found out how fossils are made and identified the three main types - ammonite, trilobite and plant. Using their skills of detection, they searched for real fossils, which was part of a fun game gaining points for their team. All the children identified the different species using a guide and produced some carefully detailed drawings.

They worked hard to paint a cast of a fossil, which showed great detail and precision using authentic colours.

The full day workshop provided lots of facts and information and was a super way for them to be introduced to this very interesting topic.
